If I have to pay for your taxes, your health insurance and your retirement, do I get to claim a deduction for an extra dependent?

Im having a little trouble feeling sorry for u Brenda lol
And how did we come to the conclusion that no one would help when they are unemployed and without health insurance? Someone need to explain that!!
Kate Morgan Not true. More than willing to help people who need help. Don’t want to pay for someone else’s birth control. Don’t want to pay for vending companies to put little signs on their machines telling people that sugary drinks are bad for them. More than willing to pay the same rate on my capital gains as I do on my income and more than willing to lose loopholes, but don’t want to have my rate jump to 33% so more people can pay nothing and definitely don’t want to keep paying an extra $13,000/year just because Tom and I decided to get married. Don’t want to have to pay more because the government refuses to dump 48,000 unused office buildings they spend millions on every year. I’m all for fair, but what’s fair? 35%? 50%? 60%? 5% of taxpayers already carry 90% of the tax burden for the entire country. What about the government being fair when it comes to spending money in ways that make sense. I believe in giving from the heart rather than having the government decide which strangers should get the benefit of what I worked hard to earn. I’d rather give my money directly to organizations with a commitment to help veterans because I believe they actually use the money to do exactly that. I believe in the “teach a man to fish” principal. I want social programs that work and that are accountable. The best social program is the one that ultimately eliminates the need for it to exist.
Sure am glad I didnt go to bed before I read this!!!!!!!!! Well said and how very true I might add. I was listening to Hannity just a few moments ago and black Girl said Well I will help the Govt when it needs help and someone called her on it and she immediately wants to talk about Romney’s tax return. The other two was saying basically the same. Get big Govt out of my hip pocket. Night Sis! 🙂
Wasnt it always better on taxes to stay single? I remember Rudy and I always saying we should get divorced and just live together cause it would be a hell of alot cheaper at tax time !!
Charitable contributions are one of the top 10 ways to lower your tax deduction- have at it and donate who you want to. Getting a divorce doesn’t help because of the hike on health insurance. Last point, I have spent a lot of time around homeless shelters for families. In order to be considered for a homeless shelter, a family of 4 with household earnings $24,000, would not qualify. They simply make too much. The mental and emotional deficiencies that these people struggle with make them virtually unemployable.
Kate Morgan: Divorce would knock me back into the middle class, eliminate the AMT and I get to keep the health insurance I already have, n’est pas?
For taxpayers who owe AMT, charitable deductions and home mortgage interest (but not “hard money” refinancing interest) are especially valuable. They reduce tax liability by the full TMT effective marginal rate of 32.5% or 35% (for those in the AMT exemption phase-out range)
